Talk about desperate housewives!
Page Six learns that Teresa Giudice made up a rumor that her castmate's husband cheated - because she's terrified of being fired if she doesn't deliver A-grade drama for the show Well done.
Giudice, 48, kicked off the 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' season 11 premiere, spreading a rumor she 'heard' about her castmate Jackie Goldschneider's husband Evan goes astray - except the sources tell us she hasn't heard it at all.
“She's being watched by the network and needed a story to stir the pot. She had no proof [that he cheated] and made up the story because Bravo got rid of the original 'Housewives', ”a source tells us, adding that Giudice fears he's on the chopping block. "[She’s] too expensive and they can filter through different women. She is desperately trying to stay relevant. "
Giudice has been a part of the cast since the show first aired in 2009.
Her lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr., told us, “The core tenet of reality TV is authenticity, and I don't believe there has ever been a more genuine 'housewife' than Teresa. Giudice, and there never will be. She is second to none in what she and her family have shared with cameras over the years. When you're as real and authentic as Teresa has been, you don't have to do stunts or fabricate a story to be relevant and it's ridiculous for anyone to suggest otherwise.
Giudice revealed on the show that she overheard Evan “fuck off” with other women in his gym, but did not reveal how she heard the story. Goldschneider confronted her about the "baseless rumor" and recently told Page Six "There wasn't even a question of whether he had cheated on me… The only reason I was upset was that she was trying to spread a rumor - not because I had already questioned my husband."
As for Giudice's fate at Bravo, a source said: “Teresa is the highest paid 'housewife'. If they get rid of her, it's because they pay too much for her and her number isn't worth it anymore, but she's been a franchise favorite forever.
A representative of Bravo did not comment.
